Port Talbot Justice Centre

TDSi, one of the UK's leading suppliers of integrated access control systems, has installed a new system at the Justice Centre in Port Talbot.

Overview

The new £3 million building sees the relocation and centralisation of several courts in the area into a purpose-built facility, where family cases, tribunal hearings and other non-criminal cases will be dealt with.

22 Doors

Integrated CCTV

EXgarde Software

The Requirement

After the relocation and centralisation of several courts in the area, the Port Talbot Centre became a central hub for family court cases.

The sensitivity of the business being conducted meant that strict access control measures needed to be implemented. Access to the building required monitoring, as well as restricted access measures put in place within the building. Safeguarding clients as well as staff and legal resources.

The Solution

Working as a subcontractor for the new building, TDSi’s partner, installation and maintenance specialist AVA Fire and Security undertook the design and installation of the CCTV, intruder alarm and access control systems. Ensuring a fully integrated solution was delivered and met the client’s specifications.

A total of 22 doors were covered by the access control system, controlling movement into and within the building. TDSi’s MICROgarde II controllers were fitted alongside TDSi’s free-issue software EXgarde. The installation was completed with the addition of Proximity card readers.

The Result

Commenting on the project, Phil Grunewald from AVA said: “Clearly for a project of this type, the security system specification is necessarily tight – with TDSi we were supremely confident not only in the system’s capability and reliability but also its ability to integrate with the other building security systems”.
