It’s not often that a brand-new large security show appears on the scene, but that is exactly what’s happening next month in Birmingham with The Security Event 2019. At TDSi we are very excited about this new show, not just because it will be bringing together security providers and customers from across the UK and beyond, but also because it will witness the first prototype of our new GARDiS controller.
A new event with a classic twist
Running from 9th-11th April at the NEC Birmingham, The Security Event is attracting a lot of attention as it draws suppliers, installers and customers to a fresh new show. The twist, however, is that it’s the same location that for many years hosted IFSEC International before it moved to its current home at the ExCeL in London.
London is undeniably a popular location for many exhibitors and visitors, but for some people based further away, it can be a challenge to attend. Speaking from experience, I know many people within the security industry who favour the NEC as a venue and The Security Event is going to appeal to a sizable proportion of the security community.
With The Security Event taking place in April and IFSEC International taking place in June, the security industry is significantly benefiting from increased choice when it comes to exhibiting and visiting two premium UK events in the same year – which is beneficial to the industry as a whole!
A shift in perspective and expectations
Changing expectations in the security show calendar are also reflected in wider industry changes too. The TDSi GARDiS range is embracing evolving expectations by fully embracing web-based systems, a significant paradigm shift for the physical security industry, enabling a full ‘Security as a Service’ approach.
This purchasing model drastically reduces the capital costs associated with any security project, allowing the operator to pay a regular manageable fee, in return for the latest upgrades and solutions, to enjoy industry-leading security and safety protection.
In many ways, these changes reflect the wider societal/generational changes and consumer preferences. So many services we procure these days are based on providing an experience rather than ownership – think about the way many of us buy music or watch TV/movies for example. Why own a few discs of content when you can stream and enjoy a much larger catalogue at any time for a sensible monthly fee?
The security sector certainly isn’t isolated from these developments and selling it as a service makes a lot of sense from an end-user point of view, but also for installers too. Servicing and updating systems ensures a steady revenue stream which doesn’t just rely on monthly sales and ‘box-shifting’. It’s a highly credible business model that makes sense for all concerned.
Come and see us at the show!
Whilst we released the base GARDiS software at the end of 2018, 2019 is the year where the range will come into its own, offering the security industry a bright vision of the future. We are delighted to be unveiling these exciting new systems at The Security Event!
We aren’t just doing this in isolation either – other partners of ours such as Simons Voss will also be on hand to show how far-reaching the security integration will be going forwards.
Equally, TDSi has worked hard with many other security providers to ensure we all provide a fully-integrated network of security systems, including Texecom, Assa’s Aperio, Milestone, Hanwha Techwin and Panasonic with its Video Insight VMS – which you can discuss with our team on the TDSi stand (SE32) at the show. Along with these, representatives of SimonsVoss will be showing visitors how TDSi systems work with the SmartIntego wireless locking systems.
We are really looking forward to meeting customers and showing what great partnerships can offer. Being a new show, it promises to offer plenty of new technology to whet the appetite of anyone involved in security.
Come and join us on the TDSi Stand, SE32, at The Security Event - NEC in Birmingham from 9th – 11th April.
