A Year in the Making
10 December 2013
It gets said a lot these days, “it’s amazing how quickly another year has passed”, but I can honestly say that has certainly been the case at TDSi in 2013!
With Christmas looming the TDSi team is looking forward to the celebrations but we are also reflecting on the year ending and the one about to start. We have had another amazing year, with headline figures of a 15% rise in turnover year on year. We have grown the TDSi team as well - with 12 new people appointed in 2013 (eight of which are brand-new roles!). We have also continued to broaden our sales geographically, with 40% of revenue now being generated in export sales. On the product front, we launched a new version of EXgarde PRO - 4.1, our security management software which brings together CCTV, intruder alarms and access control all under one security portal and it made a big splash in the market. During 2013, we have spoken to and visited more partners and customers than ever before, appearing at events such as Intersec Dubai, IFSEC UK, IFSEC West Africa, Security TWENTY 13 and APS France. We have also gone into partnership with a major UK technology distributor Midwich, selling our security products to a wide base of IT customers, recognising the growing links between physical and IT security.
Speaking and listening to our customers has been a key ingredient in our success this year and it’s something that is firmly in the foundations of our plans for 2014. We have recently been conducting extensive surveys with our customers to ascertain what TDSi does well and what we could improve on. It’s vital to know exactly how our products and services are received, but equally it’s essential to react accordingly to feedback. We are looking closely at the feedback and will be steering our business accordingly as we move forward. However successful a business is, there is always room to make it even better and we are always pleased to be able to do so!
We also finish the year with the imminent launch of EXgarde PRO 4.2, which adds further integration with ASSA ABLOY’s AperioTM wireless locking technology taking security management to the next level. We’ll be the first Access Control company worldwide to integrate to the new Aperio IP wireless hub. Wireless systems are becoming more and more popular, with some early reactionary concerns about the security of such systems being allayed and the benefits becoming very apparent (both in terms of installation and administration). It’s an ideal product to introduce for the New Year, offering customers an exciting new dimension to flexible security that works very well in the real world. It’s nice to be the first to do so with this product as well.
It looks like 2014 is going to be just as exciting we are already gearing up for our first show of the year, Intersec Dubai 2014 (19th-21st January), which we will be kick-starting with the introduction of EXgarde PRO 4.2. We have an exciting pipeline of new security products which we’ll be sharing with you in due course. We are also looking at fresh markets to explore in 2014 we have already commissioned three OMIS (Overseas Market Introduction Service) reports from UKTI for Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines but are also looking at other territories across Africa. As is always the philosophy at TDSi, we are looking to explore new markets with the support of local partners who know their customer’s needs, local legislation and importation requirements.
I always say this, but TDSi’s success really is down to working with our collection of excellent partners who offer expertise unique to their location and markets so connecting with new partners will be the cornerstone of our expansion plans again in 2014.
I’d like to end this final blog entry of 2013 by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and productive New Year!
