Making the Most of IFSEC 2015 - Your Essential Guide

 11th Jun 2015

IFSEC 2015 Logo with dates

IFSEC International 2015 is nearly here and the excitement is palpable in the TDSi office. As one of the biggest physical security events of the year, its something that exhibitors and visitors alike strive to make the most of.

To help you reap the benefits of your visit, be it one day or the entire three-day event, we present here an essential guide to planning for IFSEC International and how to make sure your time is well spent and fruitful.

Preparing for your visit

First things first, register for a free ticket for the event at www.ifsec.co.uk. This means you won't need to register when you arrive and will make entry into the event faster and easier.

Next decide which day(s) you want to attend the show. The opening times are as follows:

Tuesday 16th June 2015 : 10:00hrs - 17:00hrs

Wednesday 17th June 2015 : 10:00hrs 17:00hrs

Thursday 18th June 2015 : 10:00hrs 16:00hrs

App

It is also well worth downloading the IFSEC app, which is available on the Apple App Store (just search for 'Ifsec' to download to either an iPhone or iPad), or for Android devices via Google Play Store (search for  'Ifsec' or 'P&M Protection and Management') You can find links to both here. This useful little app allows you to plan the exhibitors you want to visit and to locate them and their stand numbers when you are there.

Getting there

One of the biggest benefits of IFSEC International being based at ExCel London is the multitude of different travel options this presents. Visitors coming in from abroad have a big choice of London airports (including the nearby London City Airport) which are easily accessible via rail links and by bus/taxi.

ExCeL

The ExCel London also has ample car parking for visitors wishing to travel in their own car. It is well worth checking the venue's website for parking options - www.excel-london.co.uk/visiting-excel/travel-guide/travel-by-road/

For those lucky enough to be located near the venue it may be convenient to cycle to the event (boasting your green potential!) and for something different, there is even an option to arrive by river or even by cable car   - via the impressive Emirates Air Line, which connects the ExCel London with the world famous O2 on the other side of the Thames river.

Arriving by rail from the North of England and Scotland

Main line trains into north London stations such as Kings Cross/St. Pancras make it easy to reach the ExCel.  Using the London Underground from Kings Cross/St. Pancras it takes approximately 55 minutes, crossing zones 1,2 and 3 and involves the following route:

  • Take the Piccadilly Line to Green Park, then change to the Jubilee Line
  • Travel to Canning Town and change to the Dockland Light Railway (DLR)
  • Alight at Customs House and follow the signs to IFSEC International inside the ExCel

Arriving by rail from the South and South West of England

Many visitors will arrive in London via Waterloo Station. The journey to the ExCel is simple and fast, taking just approximately 21 minutes, using the following route:

  • Take the Jubilee Line to Canning Town and change to DLR
  • Alight at Customs House and follow the signs to IFSEC International inside the ExCel

Once you have arrived

When you arrive and have had your badge scanned make sure you pick up a show guide. It will contain a map of the show along with details on all the exhibitors, presentations and speakers the ideal way to plan who you want to talk to and listen to.

Taking full advantage of your visit

This year the exciting keynote speakers are former British track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy MBE, sporting executive Baroness Karren Brady CBE and Adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE. It is worth registering to attend these as soon as possible because they are likely to be booked up quickly!

If you have time, you might like to check out the connected events within the Protection and Management Series which are also taking place at ExCel London at the same time as IFSEC Intenational - FIREX International, the Facilities Show, Safety & Health Expo, Energy and Environment Expo and the Service Management Expo. Your badge gives you free access and it could be of interest should your schedule allow.

Plenty of facilities

As already mentioned, the ExCeL has ample has parking, but also offers visitors everything you could need including full refreshments, full banking facilities and a secure cloakroom. The venue offers themed cafes serving light snacks and refreshments, along with bars, restaurants and seating outside each hall for something more substantial.

Equally, access to hotel accomodation is simple and of course you have all that London can offer within a short journey time.

This guide is designed as an overview of IFSEC International 2015 you can find further details on the event webpage.

IFSEC SquareVisit TDSi on Stand F1100

Naturally we want visitors to speak to us and see our latest range on the TDSi stand!

This year the TDSi stand will feature our new range of readers (which include MIFARE Plus, DESfire and Proximity versions) as well as our scalable range of controllers and the collaboration capabilities of our software products - including EXgarde security management and VUgarde CCTV software integration.

We will also be talking about the benefits of becoming a TDSi installation partner and our technical team will be on hand to discuss any security technology needs or issues you may have.

We look forward to seeing you there!
