Educating Security Professionals

 3rd Jul 2017

education-548105 1920Education of the security industry is a key component of manufacturer TDSi’s business ethos. This was reflected recently in the company’s close involvement with the education programme at IFSEC International in London, which included sponsorship of the Tavcom Theatre, along with direct participation in presentations and a panel debate which spanned all three days of the event.

TDSi’s Managing Director, John Davies, reflected on the significance of this, “We had a slight change of focus at the event this year, although we have always been passionate about training and education of the security sector. Naturally there is a genuine concern for the industry we operate in and a desire to promote excellence to the market. But equally, TDSi’s business is successful because of the expertise of our partner installers – so it is in our best interests to ensure we are all providing the best service!”

John continued, “Like most manufacturers we run a helpdesk to advise installers and specifiers on specific technical queries. Many of these enquires are based upon complex technology queries which need specific assistance. But in the past, there had been times when some of the query issues were fairly basic and could have been solved by better education in the market as a whole. This sprung us into action and resulted in the highly successful TDSi Training Programme, which has been very popular and has grown significantly over the last few years.”

Training is a key part of the company’s Partner Programme, a value-add which is not only offered in the UK but also in export regions. The TDSi team regularly visit partners around the globe to offer specific product and technology training, ensuring everyone gets the assistance they require.

This sector-wide thirst for knowledge was also reflected in the attendance of the education programme at IFSEC, as John added, “The education theatres were noticeably busy at the show this year, which was very encouraging. Naturally changes in the market have also had an effect. With more and more integration with IT systems the traditional security installer is increasingly competing against IT installers as well. Education has never been more important in our sector, but thankfully the opportunities to capitalise on this are increasing too.”

As part of its commitment to education, TDSi will soon be rolling out an updated and extended training programme. For more details please visit www.tdsi.co.uk or telephone +44 (0)1202 723535.
